18 Feb Make Your Own Cleaners Using These Green Cleaning Recipes
Here are a few “green cleaner” recipes courtesy of Gary Downing, the owner of Happy Cleaning.
Window Cleaner
Mix in spray bottle:
- 1/4 cup of rubbing alcohol
- 1/3 cup of white vinegar
Fill the bottle with bottle with distilled water and use. Be sure not to use tap water; it contains impurities that will smear glass.
All Purpose Cleaner
In a spray bottle, make a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Add 1/2 cup of lemon juice or a few drops of citrus. You can also add essential oils for a fresh scent.
Furniture Polish
In a spray bottle, make a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and olive oil. Spray on the surface and wipe with a dry cloth. You can also add lemon or citrus oils to create a fresh scent.
Gary earned his Master’s Degree in Education from Temple University. He taught in schools for four years. At the end of his first year of teaching, he students voted him the Best Teacher Award. A couple of years later he started a cleaning company called Happy Cleaning. Now he enjoys running a cleaning company and teaching how to green clean. Utilizing his teaching talents, training and experience, Gary now teaches green cleaning, including how to make homemade cleaning products that are chemical free. After learning about all the dangerous chemicals in traditional cleaning products, and what they do to our environment, he began researching and developing alternatives cleaning solutions. He studied for four years about how to use natural ingredients that have no negative effects on the environment.
